Odette Sansom, or Lise, as she was known in the spy world, was raised as a fairly normal child in France. Besides, who doesn’t like a good spy story?! And since I was quite young, I’ve been interested in codes-my cousin even invented a code that some of us cousins used for a while in writing letters to each other! So since this book included a bit of real-life coding, I was naturally intrigued. Anything historical is generally considered interesting around our house. If there’s one thing my mom has taught me to love-and her father did so for her-it’s history. I wasn’t sure about every aspect of the book, right from the get-go, but it also looked like a fascinating one-which it turned out to be! Something about it pulls me, so eventually I check it out and listen to it. Several times, when looking through lists on Libby or Overdrive, I’ve come across a book or cover that’s captivated my imagination. Synopsis: Though she was a normal housewife and mother, when Odette Sansom hears the call to become an SOE agent for England, she accepts the call, and ends up becoming WWII’s most highly decorated spy. Major Themes: True Stories, Spies, World War II Title: Code Name: Lise: The True Story of the Woman Who Became WWII’s Most Highly Decorated Spy
