Nevertheless this is a fun read with plenty of steamy scenes and funny lines. It just skates a little too close to chick territory for my liking. What didn't quite work for me (and this is a complaint of have of many romance writers) is the men seem to be a little too chatty about their feelings and love. Particularly one where Eric and Joe are called to assist a man who has 'accidentally' impaled himself on his wife's vibrator. There's also plenty of humorous dialogue and a number of really funny scenes. And for those who love friends-to-lovers romances this will be perfect. Both the hero and heroine were really likable. But when Joe gets hurt during a call-out Eric decides that keeping Joe safe is more important than keeping her close. They've known each other for twenty-two years, through all the high and lows and ups and downs of life. And not just because it's the best job he's ever had, but because his EMT partner is also his best friend, Joe. Thirty year-old Eric Parish loves working as an EMT.
